Bryan Geurink has been one of our owners at Pathway Financial Design since 2019, after returning from mission work in Africa for seven years where he directed a children’s orphanage. He serves as managing partner of our Lakeshore office. With over 20 years of experience in taxes and accounting, and seven years in investing, Bryan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and is licensed in life and health insurance in Michigan.

“My specialty is in personal and business tax preparation and planning. I also assist clients with financial planning and investments of personal and business funds,” he says. “If your topic has a dollar sign in front of it, we can talk about it! In fact, Pathway Financial Design can assist you with almost all of your financial needs, including investments, retirement, taxes, estate planning, home & auto and business insurance, and much more.”

Bryan cautions people about taxes in retirement.

What I most enjoy about my work is watching the results of tax and retirement planning work out."

— Bryan Geurink

“If we start in advance, we can potentially take actions to help save on taxes during retirement. Often, I find people don’t realize they will have to pay ordinary income taxes on all their traditional 401(k) withdrawals, and sometimes this even triggers taxes on their Social Security benefit. We take a look at your entire picture when we create your custom plan. No two clients are the same, so a custom plan is required for everyone,” Bryan says.

After growing up in Holland, Michigan, Bryan attended Calvin College where he received his Bachelor of Science in accounting. He worked in public accounting for 10 years before answering a passionate, personal calling to serve as the director of an orphanage in Lesotho, Africa. There he served children in need, facilitating their adoptions to families around the world. Now back in Michigan, through his church Bryan serves as treasurer for a nonprofit that assists the orphanage he used to direct.

Bryan is married to Anita Geurink and the couple has six children: Aiden, Elijah, Faith, Mercy, Polita, and Nthabeleng. When not in the office, he enjoys spending time hunting, fishing, playing board games, and boating with his family.
