          Ben Ruiter
Ben Ruiter has nearly a decade of experience in the financial services industry, joining the Pathway team in 2016. As one of four owners of Pathway Financial Design, Ben has held his Series 65 securities registration since 2023 and he is an IAR (independent advisor representative). He is also a tax preparer for their sister firm, HBW Partners Tax Services LLC, which prepares taxes for almost 2000 clients.
“Pathway is a financial advisory firm that sets itself apart by combining expert financial planning with in-depth tax planning services. This integrated approach allows us to deliver truly comprehensive strategies—aligning your investments, retirement, estate, and legacy planning with proactive tax solutions to help you achieve your goals efficiently and with confidence,” he says.
Ben loves finding strategies to help save clients money, and that in addition to building personal relationships and helping people realize their financial dreams are his favorite things about his career path.
”I focus on truly understanding each client’s unique goals and dreams, and at the core of my work is a genuine desire to serve others."
— Ben Ruiter
Ben continues, “I specialize in both tax planning and financial planning, offering clients a comprehensive approach that integrates proactive tax strategies with personalized financial guidance.”
Born and raised in Western Michigan in the Newaygo area, where he still resides, Ben credits his success to a foundation built on hard work. “I worked in construction, in the plumbing and electrical trades,” he says. “My background helps me bring a practical, real-world perspective to my work as a financial and tax planner.”
Ben and his wife, Shelby, have two children, Jolee and Kyler, with a third child expected in October 2025. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, being involved with his local church, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors in the beautiful Upper Peninsula.
