Joel has been in the Financial Services business since April of 1996. After about 8 years with a large international financial services company he decided to form Pathway Financial Design which allowed him to expand his business and offer more competitive products. He attended The College for Financial Planning and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, National Director of Agencies with HBW, as well as an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. His goal is to build strong relationships with his clients and give them the best options and service available in financial services today. Joel is very passionate about his work and the effect it has on his client’s lives and future.

He is licensed in Life, Health, Property and Casualty, Series 6, 63 and 26, and is also registered as an Investment Advisor Representative. The Enrolled Agent designation gives him the authority to prepare tax returns, offer tax planning and represent clients before the IRS. He is the President of Pathway Financial Design LLC as well as Broersma and Associates LLC. He is also the OSJ for HBW Securities LLC in Grand Rapids, MI.

Joel is thankful to God for bringing together this group at Pathway Financial Design. He believes God planned this, not to do something small, but rather to do something big and affect a lot of lives!


Dan Korhorn grew up in Ada, Michigan, and now lives in Rockford Michigan with his wife Kim and their two daughters, Emma & Lilyanna. Dan has been in the financial services industry since 1997. After 7 years of working for a large international financial services company, he is one of the original founders of Pathway Financial Design. With fifteen years of objective, honest, financial services experience, Dan is an expert in sorting through complex financial details and integrating them with personal goals, making him a trusted advisor for many families when it comes to financial decisions.

Dan believes the best way to achieve your financial goals is to evaluate your current financial picture, and develop a plan that addresses your future goals. Additionally, your plan should be carefully aligned with your personal values, circumstances and priorities. Dan believes very much in a “hands on” approach to addressing his client’s goals, values, and dreams. “People often ask what makes us different, and my answer is always the same. We are not afraid to get involved in our client’s lives, because we know that a personal relationship is the only way to provide real, true advice that helps them reach personal and financial success.”

Dan’s reputation as a practical problem solver and bottom line communicator provides an environment that allows him to connect with families due to his extensive personal and business experience. Beyond his abilities to provide insightful Retirement and Investment advice, Dan also has an extensive knowledge in the areas of estate planning, charitable giving, and family wealth transfer. Manuel is passionate about working with clients to help them meet their financial needs, plan for the future, and live debt free. Financial planning for Manuel is relationship-based. His focus is to provide quality advice, effective implementation, and superior service to each of his clients. Dedicated to the highest ethical standards, Manuel helps his clients attain financial security and independence. 

Manuel and his team specialize in working with individuals and local businesses, helping them in areas such as professional wealth management, investments, estate planning, college funding, insurance, debt counseling, and retirement planning. When meeting with a client, he reviews their current financial situation and discusses long and short-term objectives. He and his team then analyze the information, determine which strategies will work best for their situation, and tailor a plan specifically to help meet their financial needs and goals. Finally, after the plan is implemented, he will meet with them on a regular basis to uncover any changing needs they may have and adjust their plan accordingly.

As a part of the Pathway team, Manuel is an Investment Advisor Representative with HBW Advisory Services LLC. Manuel also holds various Bachelor’s degrees and licenses in areas of Business Management and Education, including a Master’s Degree from Grand Valley State University. In addition to his years in Financial Planning, Manuel has held positions in various corporations and government entities. This includes extended stints overseas, where he managed the implementation of sales, finances, and operations for U.S. corporations in international markets. Manuel was born in South America and raised in West Michigan. He currently resides near the lakeshore of Holland, Michigan with his beautiful wife and children.

For nearly two decades Ed has helped clients address their financial concerns and develop sound strategies by focusing on each individual’s specific needs. With extensive experience throughout major shifts in the markets, Ed has dedicated his career to delivering the personalized financial planning services his clients deserve.

Ed’s career began as a Financial Advisor in 1993 with a division of Citigroup, where he developed his fundamental financial planning knowledge. He joined HBW Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. to take a team approach in providing personalized financial advice for individuals and families.

Ed grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and attended the U.S. Naval Academy where he met his wife, Sharon. They live in Farmington Hills and have twin sons and five grandchildren. They enjoy spending Fridays with their grandchildren, gardening, traveling, and Ed also enjoys woodworking. They are active in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Farmington Hills.

Ed Kaiser is Securities, Life, Health and Variable Contracts licensed in Michigan.

Ed has an unusual background to be in the financial services industry. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, he was a Navy P-3 pilot for seven years. Then he moved on to be an engineer with Ford Truck in Dearborn, MI and later with Borg-Warner in Muncie, IN. He has international experience with a Mexican-based automotive transmission manufacturer. And, as their Sales & Technical Services Manager, Ed became fluent in Spanish, and traveled to Mexico for many years. The automotive industry afforded him great opportunity and compensation, but he wanted to be able to spend more time with his family. He felt there had to be another “road”.

Ed has always been fascinated with the “financial world”. In 1994 he was introduced to a company where he could develop his knowledge and skills in this industry and be able to make a significant difference in the financial life and destiny of ordinary families. He built an agency and opened an office in 2001. Ed discovered that he was not able to help everyone because of the limited products and solutions that could be offered, and realized he had to make a change to accomplish his goal of “finding the right financial fit” for every family.

Ed joined an independent firm, Pathway Financial Design, in September 2005. Now he is able to work with families in helping them overcome debt and develop and implement financial roadmaps customized specifically for them.

Dave was created by his Creator to make a difference! His life has been a bless journey, being able to do the things he loves. Being a Financial Coach and helping families set and achieve their goals and dreams, based on the things in life they value most, is an opportunity Dave anticipates with each of the families he serves. He employs a values-based approach to planning and has the systems, resources, and personnel to follow through for his clients. The process is simple, yet complete. Discover what is really important to you as an individual, define specifically what your goals and dreams are, benchmark where you are today, and then put a plan in place that is implemented, reviewed, and adjusted on a timely basis. Dave's greatest joy is to see the smiles on his clients' faces when they realize their financial house is in perfect order and there is a game plan to keep it that way forever, allowing his clients to live life to the fullest.

Dave is the husband to a wonderful woman, a father of four gifted children and a grandfather to six adorable grandchildren. Technically, Dave is a Registered Representative and an Investment Advisor Representative. Dave has been helping families since 1981. He has lived in Central America for three years, working with a relief organization, taught high school Spanish classes for eight years, been a partner in a local business for ten years, all of which were instrumental in preparing him for his final earthly calling, being a Financial Coach.
